Roll out that old cliché that it’s time to concentrate on the league.
The combination of Palace’s recent good form and their administration plight obviously had the Eagles players unified and ready for battle.
Unlike Wolves that is, who despite fielding a strong side, looked 2nd best throughout.
Hopefully Mujangi Bia’s woeful performance was because he is still adjusting to the pace of English football. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a worse performance in a Wolves shirt that Geoffrey’s hour on the Selhurst park pitch.
And he wasn’t alone. Although it was never a corner that Palace scored their first goal from, Danny Butterfield’s 2nd and 3rd goals were largely a result of calamitous defending from the Wolves back four.
This woeful performance may have been a result of player’s minds being on Sunday’s game at St Andrews, but a contributing factor must also have been that Mick again played too many players out of position?
What we do know is that winning breeds winning and this result is hardly the boost the team needs ahead of a couple of tough Premiership fixtures.
On this performance, we could come short again of Premiership survival and all Wolves have to show from the recent transfer window is a couple of kids on loan from a poor Belgian league.
It’s immaterial now whether or not the 3Ms tried hard enough to get in some realistic targets but let’s face it; Robbie Keane was about as likely to join us as Messi or Kaka.
With four shots all night, the big question is where are the goals going to come from? If we continue to play this system with a lone striker, then we may as well say goodbye to the Premiership and hello to the league of fizzy pop!
